PAT THOMAS

Pat Thomas is an artist living in York, PA. She is a self-taught painter working primarily in acrylic, but also oil and pastels on occasion. Pat was always encouraged to paint what she loves, so her colorful outsider art paintings are populated with family from her past, friends, and interesting characters she has encountered, as well as landscapes, neighborhoods, and buildings that are dear to her.

Born in Manhattan, New York in 1939, she is grateful for the rich art scene she was exposed to at museums and art galleries there. Pat started painting in her 20s, and later as a single mother in her 30s with 2 children working multiple jobs in NYC, showed her work at the Washington Square Art Exhibit for many years. In her late 40s, Pat attended Fordham University, earned her B.A. in English.

Pat relocated to Shrewsbury, PA in 1997, and then to York City in 2007, where she became very involved in the local art scene – volunteering at City Art Gallery, participating in the Yorkfest Fine Art Festival for several years – including winning multiple Yorkfest awards and being honored as the Featured Artist in 2011. Pat has won several awards at various York Art Association exhibits, including the coveted Rottler Award. She was also featured in the 2012 arts documentary “A Day In The Sun.”

Pat loves York City, and especially the burgeoning art scene full of young artists and the galleries that support them.
